Mission Statement

London Cross Cultural Learner Centre exists to bring together people and resources in an atmosphere in which individuals and groups from across the community can understand the issues of international development – particularly in underdeveloped countries, together with cross cultural issues in Canada, and can act together to create a more just community both locally and globally through mutual support.

Goals

  • To foster a greater and more informed awareness by Canadians of domestic and international development issues
  • To develop cross-cultural understanding through the promotion of creative interchanges between people and ideas of different cultures
  • To emphasize international and domestic development as involving human dignity and social justice by examning the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment, and possible ways of overcoming them
  • To develop, maintain and make available a multimedia resource base and an environment in which learning is on-going and self-sustaining
  • To provide support services to immigrants, refugees and minority groups inside and outside Canada
  • To assist newcomers to Canada in community integration and problem solving, cultural expression and enrichment and the development of political and social awareness
  • To elicit wide spread community support for newcomers settlement and adaptation
  • To facilitate networking and information sharing on a local, regional and national level
  • To participate in and encourage research and the creation and distribution of written and audiovisual educational materials
  • To support the programs and activities of others with similar interests
  • To establish links between rural and urban people in order to better serve the needs of the land, the people and the spirit
