Cultural Learner Centre exists to bring together people
and resources in an atmosphere in which individuals
and groups from across the community can understand
the issues of international development – particularly
in underdeveloped countries, together with cross cultural
issues in Canada, and can act together to create a more
just community both locally and globally through mutual
support.

Goals |
- To foster a greater and more informed awareness
by Canadians of domestic and international development
issues
- To develop cross-cultural understanding through
the promotion of creative interchanges between
people and ideas of different cultures
- To emphasize international and domestic development
as involving human dignity and social justice
by examning the root causes of poverty and underdevelopment,
and possible ways of overcoming them
- To develop, maintain and make available a
multimedia resource base and an environment
in which learning is on-going and self-sustaining
- To provide support services to immigrants,
refugees and minority groups inside and outside
Canada
- To assist newcomers to Canada in community
integration and problem solving, cultural expression
and enrichment and the development of political
and social awareness
- To elicit wide spread community support for
newcomers settlement and adaptation
- To facilitate networking and information sharing
on a local, regional and national level
- To participate in and encourage research and
the creation and distribution of written and
audiovisual educational materials
- To support the programs and activities of
others with similar interests
- To establish links between rural and urban
people in order to better serve the needs of
the land, the people and the spirit
