"Make sure to mark your calendars for the Opening Ceremonies of Black History Month 2012 at the University of Western Ontario. Events will proceed on February 1st and 2nd from 12:00-3:00pm in the UCC Student Lounge. There will be an array of speakers and performers including Charmaine Crooks, five-time Olympian and Olympic silver medalist. This a FREE, I repeat FREE event that you don't want to miss so make sure to stop by the UCC Student Lounge on February 1st and 2nd between 12:00-3:00pm."

Symposium: Economic Empowerment and Employment
Starts at 2 pm, Free Event
Cross Cultural Learner Centre, 505 Dundas Street, London

A panel of individuals from various African, Caribbean and other Black communities will share their experiences as they relate to achieving financial and economic stability. After the panellists have spoken, the discussion will be open to all attendees so that additional experiences and advice can be shared. In the end, we hope everyone will leave with strategies that can help them meet their financial and economic goals.

Our focus is family! Kids, bring your parents and friends to the London Regional Children’s Museum and have fun singing, dancing, playing fames, listen to stories, get your hair braided, dress up in traditional clothing and enjoy many other activities. Sample foods from the Caribbean and Africa.

The London Police Service will commemorate Black History Month. The theme of the event is "Celebrating Excellence in Achievement". This event is being coordinated in partnership with the Congress of Black Women.

The evening will include; award presentations, music, ethnic cuisine and speakers.

This event is free and open to the general public.
