Public Access Computer Policies

 

The Cross Cultural Learner Centre provides free public access to computers as an informational, educational and recreational resource. Access to the Internet is available to all patrons, however, some restrictions may be imposed by the provider of the service.

  • CCLC does not guarantee the authority or accuracy of information found on the Internet. Individual users must accept responsibility for selecting content. Parents/guardians of minors are responsible for monitoring material accessed by their children.
  • The CCLC is not assure that data or files downloaded by users are virus-free. Users access the Internet at their own risk. is not responsible for damages to equipment or data on a user's personal computer from the use of data downloaded from the Library's Internet service.
  • CCLC is not responsible for the availability of material on the Internet that may be offensive to users, nor for users accessing those materials.
  • CCLC is not responsible for security on the Internet. Sending credit card numbers, account numbers, your name, address or other information via the Internet is undertaken at the user's risk.
  • Users must not alter or damage computer hardware, software, settings or files.
  • Users must observe all applicable Federal, State and Local laws, including laws applying to copyright.
  • Users must not download or display information or images which may reasonably be deemed to be offensive to others.
  • While respecting individual users rights to privacy, CCLC Library staff reserves the right to monitor use of the computers to ensure compliance with this policy. Staff may ask users to remove themselves from Library equipment if they observe any behavior which they judge to be in conflict with this policy. Misuse or abuse of Library computers may result in suspension of computer privileges.
